Memorial Day is an important national holiday. We honor those who have fallen while serving our country. Many families and friends spend time together during this three-day weekend. Outdoor activities are a favorite activity. Here are five parks in Northern Virginia that are favorite spots!
Crocket Park, Warrenton

Crocket Park is a great park to visit with your family. They have many outdoor activities such as fishing, picnicking, tracks for hiking or jogging, and even winter skiing. This is definitely a park worth going to on Memorial Day! Park entrance is free for those who live in Faquier County. You can even rent a pavilion.
Curtis Park, Fredricksburg

Curtis Park is located in Fredricksburg. The park consists of 580 acres of open fields and fun opportunities for recreation. There is a lake for fishing, trails for hiking or jogging , a skateboard park, and even an 18-hole golf course. You can play many sports here including softball, soccer, tennis, and swimming in the pool. You can also reserve a picnic pavilion to enjoy a meal out in the woods.
Great Falls Park, McLean

Great Falls Park is located 15 minutes away from Washington, DC. The beautiful water fall draws in viewers from all around Virginia. The park includes 800 acres and has various outdoor activities. There are three overlooks to view the water falls, bicycling on the five miles of trail, bird watching, boating, climbing, fishing, hiking, and even horseback riding. There are enough activities for your whole family. This is a great park to spend Memorial day on!
Manassas National Battlefield Park

If you enjoy history and hiking trails, the Manassas National Battlefield Park is for you! There are over 40 miles of hiking trail at this park. Hikers at the Battlefield Park witness where the First and Second Battles of Manassas occurred during the Civil War. The visitor’s center provides maps and historical information on the battlefields. This is another great park to go to on Memorial Day.
Occoquan Regional Park, Lorton

Occoquan Regional Park is 350 acres large and is located in Lorton, Virginia. There are athletic fields, batting cages, boat & kayak rentals, fishing, gazebos rentals, and hiking trails in this park. The hiking trails include the Fairfax Cross Country Trail and Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. There are even paddle tours that covers the natural, native, and colonial history of the region. There is endless fun at the Occoquan Regional Park.
